Happy fourth birthday. I'm shocked that this day has come. It's such a cliche for parents to talk about how times flies and kids grow up too fast, but there honestly is a reason parents say it. Four years ago this minute you were less than an hour old. I couldn't believe I was holding you. I couldn't believe I had the strength to birth nearly nine pound a baby. (It's not easy you know.)
Not a day goes by that you don't make me laugh. Not a day goes by that you don't make my heart hurt in some little way. ("I don't need you anymore mommy." Really???) My greatest goal in life is to be a parent worthy of a kid like you.
I have no idea how we got to this point.
