Glee

Last week I decided to break up with Glee. It's just so fucking terrible and their botching of the Santana story-line is basically unforgiveable. But I forgot to delete it from my DVR, so I have last night's episode sitting there and I'm trying to decide if I should delete it without watching it.  It's hard for me to do.  I'm a complete-ist and can't stand to stop watching a show before it ends.  I still watch The Simpsons for crying out loud, and that hasn't been very good for at least a decade!  (Though it manages to be juuuust good enough to keep me coming back.)

But Glee.  Christ.  I was going to do this whole post about all the things that Glee has done wrong and how the fuck does a show that showed such promise turn into such shit so quickly????? But then I thought I'd do one better and just refer you guys to the reviews of Todd VanDerWerff at the AV Club.  His assessments of Glee are absolutely brilliant, and he basically says every single thing I want to say about the show, but lack the talent to do so.

So if you're still watching Glee, and have been trying to cut the cord like I have (and, really. Why wouldn't you?)  Check out the Glee reviews at the AV Club.  This is the link to this week's episode, which is by far one of the funniest pop-culture reviews I've ever read.  But you can go back through the archives and read some of his earlier reviews.

I love the AV Club. And their reviews are always great. (I followed the whole final season of Big Love through the reviews.)

I stopped watching Glee after the first season. Part of that was that I don't like TV that much, and part was that I loved the first season and it's "musical version of Election with softer edges" feel, but the second season seemed to lose that entirely. It's like they drained all the quirky-ness out of it.

I've been hearing (mostly from the AV club reviews) that it's a train wreck. That's a shame, it started so well.

Oh the second season was just awful. There was basically one good plot point, Kurt being bullied, but everything else was shit. There was a good amount in s1 that was crap too, but it was forgiveable because the show was finding itself, and the parts that were crap seemed almost charming because the show was so different than anything else on TV. The AV Club is fabulous though, isn't it? I read almost anything written by Todd VanDerWerff and most of Sean O'Neal's newswires. Even if they aren't on topics I'm that iinterested in.

I decided to break up with Glee after the trainwreck that was season 2, and I'm much, much happier for it. I don't miss it at all.

My plan was to stop after s2 as well. But after s2, s1 became available on Netflix Instant, and I went back to catch up on the few episodes I missed, but ended up rewatching the whole first season. Then I remembered that there were a lot of things the show did well and I stupidly decided to give the third season a try, hoping they could go back to the charm of season one. Sigh.

That review was brilliant. Thanks for the link!

My break up with Glee was ugly. I kept watching up until the end of season two, but the finale was a true dealbreaker. It makes me so sad that what was once a witty yay-for-the-underdogs show is so convoluted now. I've heard season three is even worse, and reading that review just confirmed it. I can't even believe the Sam storyline...

Also, Will Schuester is probably one of the biggest douches in the history of television.

I have listened to the freaking cover of "Someone Like You/Rumour Has It" basically non stop the last week. The show makes me kinda meh but you stick Mercedes and Santana Together (River Deep Mountain High is also a favorite)

I honestly spend a good portion of the show fast forwarding and wanting people to die in a fire. My favorite guy is the Irish guy. He's actually adorable.

Also how pathetic am I to become "that girl" who listens to Adele songs on repeat in general *sigh* stupid broken heart

Yes. I used to want Puck. Now I just want him and his stupid fucking hair to die in a fire. Rory is ok, they don't give him much ti do.

Heee....Karofsky. He also made an appearance earlier this season, where we conveniently learned he transferred schools. For a small town, Lima has a lot of schools to choose from.

I still crush on Mike Chang, I admit. His sweet moves make him that much sexier.

Miss you too. I sent xmas cards out today, including one to you. :)
