I had a terrible time after G was born finding a birth control pill that worked for me.  Obviously at first, I needed the mini-pill since I was breastfeeding, but I didn't want to keep taking that after I weaned.  I'm now on my fourth type of pill since I had the kid.  It's better than the others that gave me nine day periods and bleeding randomly during the month.  But the worst thing is that my PMS symptoms exactly mimic my symptoms from very early in my pregnancy with G.   Cramping that feels like implantation, very sore boobs, tiredness, and some nausea.

So where does this lead me?  Every single month I'm freaking out that I might be pregnant.  Even though I know it's highly unlikely as I'm on the pill and take it religiously, never missing a dose.  And that's what I'm going through right now.  ohmygodpleasepleasepleasedon'tletmebepregnant.  Every fucking month this happens and every fucking month I actually think ok, I thought this last month.  But I swear this time it's different!

I'm not pregnant. I know I'm not and I'm just freaking out.  But ohmygod.  If we had to pay for daycare for two kids, we'd so be in the poor house.

Hi! It's Colleen from the Nickelodeon blog, leaving you my first comment via livejournal. :) It's nice to hear that there is such a thing as a mini-pill you can take after you have a baby. I never knew that.

I'm currently on the Nuvaring, which I like a lot and have no side effects from. And I don't have to take a pill every day. It's helped me a lot. I think I have some sort of natural chemical imbalance of some sort that got worse every month, where around day 2 of a period my mood would plummet and I'd feel really depressed and even more hypersensitive than normal, and then as it was winding down a few days later I'd get a spike in horrible migraines that would last as long as three days. It was miserable. But the Nuvaring in combination with a pill normally prescribed for anxiety but that can also help migraine symptoms has made me much much better. Now if and when I get headaches I am at least able to function through them.

That's actually really good to know. Migraines are also a part of my PMS/period. Of course, it was also a part of my first few weeks of pregnancy. Maybe I'll ask my doctor about nuvaring.

The mini-pill is progesterone only. It's the estrogen in birth control pills that fuck up the production of breastmilk. I actually liked the pill, but it's not quiiite as effective and it absolutely must be taken at the exact same time every day. If you're even three hours late you have to use back up birth control.
